How can we offer such a customised service level?

We ensure that each manager has enough time to care for your property to our high standards e.g. find the best tenants, do comprehensive inspections, maintain open communication with all parties, check rents daily, follow up with tradesmen, and ensure that the property meets all legislation to protect the owner from inadvertent breaches.

We do this by limiting the number of properties any one of our managers can look after to just 60.

What owners can expect from us

  • We ensure that all staff members are up-to-date with tenancy legislation. We offer staff regular in-house and outsourced training so that we can continue to serve our clients efficiently using best practices. We are members of REINZ, which adds another layer of oversight to our systems and operations.

  • At Firsthand, we offer competitive fees to our clients without compromising on service levels, with an average management fee of 8% +GST. You can enjoy more peace of mind knowing you are getting the best value for your money.

  • There are no surprises in our fees. We don't have any 'add-ons' to invoices we pay on your behalf.

  • Helping you choose the right tenant is something we're particularly good at. We let you make the final decision, of course, however our shortlist of prospective tenants will only propose people that we would be happy to put in our own properties.

  • We pay close attention to all the details so we can maintain positive relationships with both owners and their tenants.

  • When we first place a tenant we carry out the first inspection at 4 weeks. Routine inspections are then undertaken every three months and reports are sent through to you once uploaded to our system. Owners can also log in to their owner portal to review all inspections.

  • Landlords can log in to their portal at any time to view such details as account statements, information on income vs expenses, and completed or outstanding maintenance and inspections.

  • We run a Trust account for all rental payments to provide owners with additional peace-of-mind.

  • We know that every owner has their own requirements and are happy to pay rent out at a frequency that suits.

  • We keep a close eye on your property to catch maintenance before it becomes a problem. Short and long term maintenance recommendations are included in each routine inspection report.

  • We offer an in-house handyman service to ensure a quick response to maintenance issues, as well as having a great team of contractors at our fingertips.

  • To help our owners receive consistent and optimal returns we regularly provide short- and long-term maintenance recommendations, as well as personalised advice on how to further improve their rental income.
